Are all the ingredients natural?

All of the ingredients in Doctor Rogers RESTORE™ are plant-based.

The active ingredient is Glycerin (20%).  Glycerin is a strong humectant, pulling water towards itself to create a moist environment for healing skin, important for preventing cell death from dehydration. The glycerin in RESTORE is vegetable glycerin harvested from sustainably grown Oil Palm Trees.

The other ingredients in Doctor Rogers RESTORE™ are Castor Oil and Castor Wax.

Castor Oil is a well-known emollient that hydrates and moisturizes the skin.  When combined with glycerin, together they promote skin healing, reduce dermatitis, and restore normal skin barrier function.  Castor Wax is hydrogenated castor oil to increase the oil’s stability and raises its melting point so that it is a solid at room temperature. The castor oil used in RESTORE is made from sustainably farmed castor beans (Ricinus Communis).

Why no Petroleum?

Petroleum is safe for the skin but is not renewable and the concept of cover your skin with a fossil fuel is kind of gross. It was developed in 1870, distilled from a jelly-like precipitate found on oil rigs and wells. Products like Aquaphor, Bag Balm, Neosporin, Polysporin, Skinceuticals Hydrabalm, Elta MD Laser Balm and many others in addition to the petroleum base, have common allergens in them like lanolin, neomycin, vitamin E that can irritate the skin. Dr. Rogers regularly sees reactions to these in her clinic. She used to recommend plain Vaseline after procedures but as more and more of her patients wanted a petroleum-free option and she wanted hypo-allergic she made RESTORE™.

How long should the product last?

Despite the small size of the 0.5 ounce tube, even with daily use it will last months. The 8 ounce jar is available for doctors offices and families.

When will I see an effect?

You will see improvement immediately after applying RESTORE to dry skin. For injured skin, use RESTORE and a bandage and you see improvement in a day.

What does it mean to be FDA certified as an over-the-counter drug? What testing as RESTORE undergone?

It was important to Dr. Rogers for RESTORE to be an over-the-counter drug because these medications are held to a higher standard than other skin care products and she wanted patients to feel safe with using RESTORE on their dry or damaged skin.

RESTORE™ healing balm passed rigorous testing to become an over-the-counter drug for skin protection. These tests included:

CHALLENGE TEST A third party lab inoculated RESTORE with multiple strands of bacteria and fungus to test if the formula will prevent their growth. RESULT: RESTORE inhibited the growth of all tested bacteria and fungus.

REPEAT INSULT PATCH TEST Patches containing RESTORE Healing Balm were affixed to the backs of 50 human subjects for a 48-hour period, this process was then repeated 9 consecutive times and evaluated by trained laboratory personnel. RESULT: No allergic reaction identified. EYE

IRRITATION TEST RESULT: No irritation or allergic reaction identified.

IN-HOUSE STABILITY TEST The product was exposed to increased temperatures (4, 25, 40 and 45 Celsius) as well as freeze/thaw and stress tests. RESULT: RESTORE had no product separation, discoloration, scent or pH changes.

ASSAY (ACTIVE) TEST “Active Ingredient” percentages were tested to verify the active ingredients in over-the-counter medications were the same as that listed on the product. This testing is required for all drugs, both prescription or over-the-counter. RESULT: The active ingredients listed in RESTORE were the same as that listed on the product label.

2-YEAR LAB STABILITY TEST FOR OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICATIONS Conducted a 2-year Shelf Life/Stability Test under normal room temperature and humidity conditions with the product evaluated at 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 and 24 months. RESULT: RESTORE had no separation, discoloration, scent and pH changes.

Why does the label say “for children under 6 months of age ask a doctor”?

Because RESTORE is regulated by the FDA and has never been formally studied in infants under the age of 6 months this line must be included on the label according to FDA standards. Yet the ingredients in RESTORE are well known, have been used for years and thought to be very safe for people of all ages. Dr. Rogers’ uses and recommends RESTORE for children of any age.

Where is RESTORE made?

RESTORE healing balm is made in an FDA certified manufacturing plant in the USA.
