AM and PM Skin Routine Basics
In the pursuit of radiant and healthy skin, an effective routine should be a simple one. You only need five well formulated products to achieve your best skin. Not only will this help you maintain the health and beauty of your skin, but it will also minimize the risk of irritation. Let's explore the simple steps to achieving your skincare goals.
Morning Routine:
-Splash with Water: In the morning, start your skincare routine by splashing your face with water. If you have oily skin, then it is ok to wash.
-Day Treatment: Next, apply a product that shields your skin from daily environmental stressors, such as pollution and free radicals that age the skin. My top recommendation are vitamin C serum, such as my Day Preventive Treatment. It's packed with antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, ferulic acid, and acetyl zingerone, all of which work together to neutralize free radicals and safeguard your skin. Moisturizer: Follow up your vitamin C serum with a quality moisturizer, such as my Face Cream. This step ensures your skin stays hydrated throughout the day, preventing dryness, irritation and maintaining plumpness.
-Sunscreen: Finish off your morning routine with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. I personally prefer zinc-based sunscreens, but the key here is consistency. Regardless of your choice, wearing sunscreen daily is crucial because 90% of aging is caused by sun exposure. Protecting your skin from UV rays is a long-term investment in your skin's health and beauty. For my full list of recommendations, check out my 2024 Sunscreen Guide.
Nighttime Routine:
-Face Wash: In the evening, start by washing your face to remove sunscreen, makeup, and any accumulated dirt or sweat. A gentle cleanser, such as my Face Wash is all you need to prepare your skin for the night.
-Night Treatment: Apply a cell turnover product like prescription tretinoin, retinol, bakuchiol or glycolic acid. These ingredients are powerful allies in rejuvenating your skin while you sleep. My Night Repair Treatment is a well tolerated combination of bakuchiol, glycolic acid and gluconolactone to reverse the signs of aging
-Moisturizer: After using a night treatment, support your skin cell turn over work with a moisturizer. You do not need a day vs night cream but you do need to use more of your moisturizer at night to protect your skin from drying out as you sleep. Applying it generously to your face, around your eyes, neck, and chest. I use my face cream.
I want to emphasize that you don't need an extensive collection of toners, eye creams, neck creams, or essences for beautiful and healthy skin. By sticking to five well-formulated products, you'll provide your skin with everything it needs to thrive.
Quality over quantity is the key to a successful routine.
