A Guide to Face Washing
The History of Face Wash
In the 1980s: The first modern liquid cleansers were introduced as an alternative to bar soap. These cleansers were typically very basic (high pH level) and disrupted the skin's acid mantle.
So what happened? Toner was introduced to balance the skin’s pH.
Today: Cleansers are much more gentle and the need for toner has been eliminated. However, these gentle cleansers are often not as effective, so double cleansing became popular.
The problem with double cleansing? Additional friction on the face can cause irritation and still increase the pH level of the skin.
Dr. Rogers created her Face Wash to eliminate these issues.
